alchemy & writing::Sagittarius Season

Hello folks!

Welcome to Sagittarius season! Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and those born under this constellation typically have a happy-go-lucky vibe about them. Sagittarius is also the sign of the guru, or teacher, and it’s the one sign that might have blind faith. Some of that blind faith might also be because they’re lucky - did I ever tell you about that time I was in the desert with a Sagittarius and the car was extremely close to being on empty, which wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that the nearest gas station was 50 miles away? Yeah . . . we made it to the gas station, no skin off our backs. I’m not sure if Jupiter was looking down on us, me being a Sag moon and rising, and my friend being a Sag sun. There was so much Sag energy in the car😹♃♐︎ - was there even a question if we would make it?? We were also doing a stereotypical Sag thing, a road trip. Don't attempt at home!!

Okay, so it’s Sagittarius season which runs from Thursday, Nov 21st - Dec 21st (the winter solstice). As the winter solstice is a good time to plant the seeds for the coming year, you might want to take time out now to think about what you’d like to accomplish next year.

Astro updates/astro points of interest for creatives:

Mars in Leo (and retrograde): Mars moved into Leo on Nov. 3rd and I love this placement for anyone doing creative work. Leo is the sign of the artist, the creative; and Mars is kind of like our will. In normal language, when Mars is in Leo, there’s an energy and compulsion to be creative. However, Mars will be going retrograde on Dec. 6th so this means the Mars energy will inevitably slow down. Once Mars is retrograde, that energy to create may move inward, or this might be a good time to review . . . because, Mercury will also be retrograde at that time. As these two personal planets will be retrograde, I’m going to advise you to work slowly on your creative work, and don’t get too frustrated if you don’t get as far as you want. These would be good times to rest and let your subconscious ferment. Good things will come, but you will need to rest.

Mercury in retrograde: Nov 25th - Dec 15th in Sagittarius; Mercury in retrograde is not really something to fear, but rather something to be aware of. When Mercury is in retrograde there isn’t really energy to start something new, it’s a better time to work on rewriting or reviewing the progress you’ve already made. If you’re a writer, this is a fantastic time to take a break from writing and to focus on editing.

Jupiter in Gemini: Ah, my favorite transit right now for finishing a large writing project (aka my novel)! This transit ends in June 2025.

New Moon in Sag: Saturday, November 30th.

Full Moon in Gemini: Sunday, December 15th.

Sagittarius season book recommendation:

2666 by Roberto Bolaño

There is a breadth of topics that Sagittarius loves to engage with, and Sags love a good journey, so I chose this book, one of my favorites, for Sagittarius season. (My rising and my moon are in Sagittarius, so I have a fairly intimate understanding of what Sag’s love.)

This is a long ass heady book that deals largely with the femicides in Mexico (Bolaño calls Juarez, where the real life killings occur, Santa Teresa) and the search for an author. The copy I have clocks in at 893 pages and has so many themes that it would be a disservice to attempt to write it all out here. I would say one of the main themes of it is obsession, though. What I can tell you is that it’s a great book to get lost in. If you do read this book, Part 4 gets extremely gruesome - just a warning.

Welcome to Gemini Season! I can’t believe we’re already in Gemini season, running quick into summer! Half the year is almost up, yikes! So here we are, in Gemini Season, which started on May 20th this year, and will last until the summer solstice on June 20th. This Gemini season will be a busy one, astrologically. Many planets are changing signs during Gemini season, which is oh-so-very Gemini, as Gemini is the most mercurial sign. Gemini is ruled by Mercury and the Gemini constellation is...

Hey folks! Welcome to Aries season and Spring and the end of Eclipse season!! (Quick note, scroll to the end of this newsletter and there is a wonderful opportunity for a writer with a game changing idea) I’m not gonna lie, all of this has made me pretty tired - it has been an exhausting month, has it not? There were many changes going on in March, many that will affect us here on earth for awhile. Aries season brings with it the end of the eclipses and the end of the Venus and Mercury...

Hello all and welcome to Pisces season! (And, sorry this one is so late, there’s a ton going on in March - if you haven’t heard, 2025 is an active year astrologically) I was not paying attention and didn’t realize Pisces actually floated in on February 18th (how Pisces of me), and we’re in Pisces season until the Spring Equinox on March 20th (also the beginning of Aries season) As it’s Pisces season, it’s time to get dreamy. Yes, the world (or, feels like it at least) is going to hell, so I’d...
